Were you all watching Barrett Jackson 1/17-1/22?? I know we were!! It's a love/hate relationship, I like to see cars that you don't see everyday, but I don't like the prices I saw for "resto-mods" or "clones", I mean c'mon it's not the real thing and it got $60,000 (and some cases, more)? Really?? Really?!? Wow. It just goes to show you how much we (as a whole) love "Elenor" and don't care if it's not the real deal. I can see where buying one of those 'clones' could give someone the chance to drive her whereas the real thing will sit, drained of fluids, in someone's collection just sitting there. And one of the very few requirements we, as a club, has, is to DRIVE OUR CARS!!! And don't stop driving them either, no matter what, we must keep this fire alive.
I have some good news for you... on Saturday May 19th, 2012 (with a rain date for Sun the 20th) we will be having a CAR SHOW to benefit the CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK, for a direct benefit to the CHILDREN"S HOSPITAL OF PHILADELPHIA. It will be held at the RITE AID pharmacy on Rt 512 in Bangor, PA. Flyer coming soon.
Events are up!!! (well, most of them anyway). We're still at the Bowmanstown Rod and Gun Club on the first Friday's, April through October so come on out and join us!! On a side note, as many of you know, our VP Karin spent a good part of 2011 in cancer treatment. She's back now and raring to get back to cruising with her friends and auto-related family. She has BIG plans for us later this year and if things come together right, this will be a good show. So keep checking for updates.
Okay, I'm hoping that Puxatawny Phil gives us some good news on Feb, 2. I am about done with the no snow show. Temps in the 30's and 40's with some occasional 50's ain't right. I guess that's "Global warming". 6 more weeks of winter he said, we'll see.....
